Hello everyone! Since moving to the Bay Area I’ve really started embracing decorating my home according to the time of year. Which is pretty funny because I really couldn’t be bothered to do so whilst living in Cincinnati. Which I think may have been for a couple of reasons. Reason A) In Ohio I really had to more survive the seasons versus celebrate and enjoy them. Reason B) Both mine and Eric’s families live in Ohio so we’d celebrate at their cozily decorated homes instead of having to put an ounce of effort into getting our own place looking festive. Also, I suppose since moving away I’ve become totally obsessed with making my apartment feel as homey as possible. Really, I’m the weirdo who bakes cookies solely for the smell to waft around my living space. So, since Fall officially starts September 23th I decided to welcome in the season by making a list of fun fall projects to get my home ready for autumn!
It seems that this will be my last post for August because for the next week I shall be romping around with friends in Black Rock City at Burning Man! I spent all of today working on my last burner preps and when I finally, finally finished (literally five minutes ago) I figured a short update post was in order before I set off for the desert.
I have a couple of posts planned for when I return – specifically an August favorites list and a small breakfast recipe. My hope is by having posts planned I won’t be discouraged by my absence and will be able to get right back into the swing of things.
So, with that, I hope everyone has a lovely first week of September, here are some pictures of what I worked on all day today (crayon flower gifts for Burning Man), and I’ll meet back up with you later!
Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been obsessed with the Zelda game franchise ever since my cousins first introduced me to Ocarina of Time in ’98. As a kid I ran around pretending to be a Kokiri by exploring the forest bordering my neighborhood and building temples in Arenia’s parents’ backyard. As an adult, I immediately got a tattoo to commemorate my love upon turning 18 (NO REGRETS) and at 25 after re-playing Majora’s Mask in 3D took on the most intensive paper mache project I’d ever attempted in my GD life. AND I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS!! Is it a perfect replica of Majora’s Mask? – Hell no-, but I worked hard on it so I love it. If anyone else is interested in trying this project I wrote a rough (like really, really rough) tutorial on what it took to make my mask.
At last! I’m finally posting pictures of our apartment’s freshly decorated guest room. Everyone may now sleep soundly at night knowing you will have your own room with an (extremely) comfortable air mattress with which to rest your weary head when you visit. I now give you leave to start moving around your vacation days and booking your flights.
In case anyone is wondering I got the template for the Wifi sign at Life Love Lauren.
